Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimen perennial, H, 2n=16, diploid mesic to mesoxeric meadow-steppe species from the forest-steppe continental Eurasian Cirsio-Brachypodion, Molinio-Arhhenatheretea, Geranion sanguinei, Quercetea pubescentis R34 mesoxeric forest-steppe habitats, R38 habitats from the forest-steppe     The massive presence of this species in the meadow-steppe grasslands from the forest-steppe attests a well degree of preservation of the ecosystem, the species being very vulnerable to overgrazing and ruderalization.
